About us

The Justice, Development, and Peace Commission (JDPC), Diocese of Issele-Uku is the social arm of the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, Delta State, Nigeria. It is charged with the responsibility of ensuring justice and peace in our society, especially among the less privileged and the vulnerable ones. We are the developmental arm of the Church in partnership and cooperation with relevant non-government organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), community development associations (CDAs), other civil society organizations (CSOs), individuals, and government agencies.

Following the ecclesiastical composition and the juridical boundaries allocated to our Diocese, we operate within six (6) Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State. These include Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North-East, Ika South, Oshimili North, and Oshimili South.

Like every other commission in the Diocese, the Bishop stands as the Legal Holder of the Commission. The Bishop is also the Chairman of the board of trustees (BOT). The BOT is the decision-making organ of the commission. It has other four members besides the Bishop. They include the Vicar General of the Diocese, a Catholic man and two Catholic women.

The Commission also has the management board which is currently headed by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Christopher Aninye, the Judical Vicar of the Diocese. The director of the commission is the executive secretary of that board. It is the duty of the director to see to the day-to-day running of the commission, ensuring that the policies are following judiciously and the projects carried out in line with our policies and core values.

We are guided by our vision, mission, and core values as posted here in our website.
